There is more to learning in Montana than just the formal Public or Private eduational opportunities. There are many specialized programs of all varieties for a wide span of ages.

Little Red Truck --- Based out of Missoula, Montana.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for nearly 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,100 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town in their “little red truck” loaded with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented at the end of the week.

PaleoWorld Research Foundation ----- Their program offers kids, families, students of science, dino enthusiast of ALL AGES, an opportunity to participate in a hand-on dinosaur expedition in Eastern Montana's Hell Creek Formation.
Billings
Veterans' Upward Bound - At most college campuses and ONLINE, The Montana Veterans' Upward Bound Program is offering free college prep classes that prepare veterans for college and other post-secondary training. If you are a military veteran, we can assist you in achieving your educational goals. Montana Veterans' Upward Bound is offering free college prep classes in Math, Algebra, Grammar, Writing, Computers, College Survival and American History. They also offers free college prep classes using Distance Learning via Online classes for those veterans that are not able to come to a campus to access traditional classes.
Montana Dance Center - They are focused on providing a high-quality dance studio where seasoned dancers and new dancers alike come together under one roof. To make this happen, they've assembled an amazing team of instructors who work with dancers of all ages and levels, making dance a truly fun and challenging activity for everyone.

Deer Lodge
Fraser School of Driving --- The school was established in 1995 to teach safety and expertise to those interested in driving horses. They cater to all ages and abilities from beginners to those who are competitive. Trainers Alex and Kayo Fraser have worked with draft and light driving horses for well over 40 years. They offer lessons year round with either your equipment, horses, and location or theirs. This is also a great Montana vacation idea!

Missoula
Downtown Dance Collective (DDC); If you have a company or dance organization of your own, please call to find out how you can be involved in the Collective. The DDC's main mission is to unify the dance community that already exists and to build greater numbers in that community. A Collective, like a traditional dance school, offers a full range of classes for dancers of all ages and all levels. The difference between a collective and a traditional dance school is that a collective provides support for the artists and their individual talents, rather than setting rules and defining curriculums.

Green University LLC ; The Internship program connects the dots from wilderness survival to sustainable living in the modern world. Through primitive living skills, they immerse participants in the natural world and deal with sustainability issues at an intimate level. The acts of finding shelter, harvesting wild foods, making clothes, and keeping warm reproduces issues of modern sustainability on a model scale as we journey to meet our needs.
Outdoor Wilderness Living School (Owls) ; It is their mission to awaken children and young adults to the beauty and value of the natural world, while giving them the skills, not only to survive, but to thrive in nature.
Pray
Absaroka Musher's School -- available each Winter, December 1st - 15th. This involves a three-day comprehensive, hands-on instruction. You'll learn about pre-season training as it is considered the foundation of your team's performance. Each student will be responsible for a 6 dog team of experienced sled dogs enabling you to learn about the dogs as well. As a student you will learn the skills required to begin mushing your own team without the learning curve and errors your dogs will experience from a Rookie musher/handler.
Topics of discussion will include:
dog care, nutrition, skeletal structure, commands, pre-season training techniques, dog selection and team placement, sleds, carts and equipment.
Thompson Falls
Advanced Taxidermy Training Center of NW Montana; If you are serious about learning taxidermy techniques from an award winning instructor who will train you to run your own full service commercial taxidermy studio, then we would love to have you attend our school! Over the years, we have helped to launch many new taxidermy careers, and we are proud of the many successes of our graduates. They are accomplished commercial taxidermists, competition award winners, and at least four of our graduates are now running taxidermy schools of their own! After all our years of experience we still enjoy sharing our knowledge, and we still enjoy running our own full time taxidermy studio.

Whitefish
Flying Fish Kids' Gym --- They are specifically designed for kids 6 & under. Flying Fish provides children in Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Kalispell and surrounding areas with a fun, indoor activity where they can get exercise and make new friends. They offer gymnastics classes, open gym time, meetings for playgroups and preschools, and birthday parties. Classes are carefully structured to incorporate education in the areas of physical and social development. Children develop gross motor skills including strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. At the same time, social interaction in a class setting helps kids learn important concepts such as following instructions and taking turns--all important skills in preparation for school. Classes include music and games and are taught by qualified, supportive instructors.
